ASUS ProArt Display PA279CRV Monitor Review

ASUS ProArt Display PA279CRV
            Monitor Review
The ASUS ProArt Display PA279CRV is a 27-inch 4K monitor designed for video editing. It comes factory-calibrated and is Calman Verified, making it a solid choice for professionals. While it offers different picture modes for various workflows, it falls short for gaming with its basic 60Hz refresh rate and slow response time, leading to blurry motion. The low contrast ratio and poor local dimming performance also make it unsuitable for dark room gaming. For office use, the PA279CRV excels with its sharp 4K resolution and high pixel density, ensuring clear text. It’s also great for content creation, thanks to its factory calibration and multiple picture modes. However, its HDR performance is underwhelming, with highlights failing to stand out and blacks appearing gray. The local dimming feature, with only eight edge-lit zones, performs poorly, causing noticeable blooming. The monitor’s brightness is decent for well-lit rooms, though it struggles to make HDR content pop. Its SDR picture quality is acceptable, displaying a wide color range, but the slow response time results in blurry motion. The horizontal and vertical viewing angles are decent, making it suitable for collaborative work. Gray uniformity is good, but black uniformity is mediocre, with backlight bleed visible without local dimming. The ASUS PA279CRV has excellent factory calibration, especially in sRGB mode, and offers outstanding accuracy after calibration. Text clarity is fantastic due to its high resolution, and reflection handling is good, though glare can still be an issue under strong light. The gradient handling is impressive, with no noticeable banding. While it supports VRR, the limited refresh rate range and slow response time hinder gaming performance. Connectivity options include USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode and 90W power delivery for laptops, though daisy chaining didn’t work in testing. The monitor works well with macOS, though HDR and VRR are limited over USB-C. Additional features like Picture-by-Picture, Blue Light Filter, and QuickFit Plus overlays enhance productivity, though some don’t work in HDR. Overall, it’s a strong choice for office and editing work but falls short for gaming and HDR content. Buy on Amazon
